Leaders who experience long-term success know themselves, both what they are good at and what they are not good at. There’s a saying that we probably haven’t met yet the person who will make the biggest difference in our life. If that’s true, we should always be looking to meet new people all the time, as we never know when the right person will enter our life. This usually is the person that will see the potential in us and inspire us to use it.

There’s two types of people…one is always shooting down the ideas of others, versus the second who is always promoting the ideas of others (especially the great ideas). The one promoting the ideas of others is helping to “make things happen” and add value. The best way to control people is to encourage them to be mischievous. Then
they will be in control in its wider sense. To give your sheep or cow a large, spacious meadow is the way to control him. So it
is with people: first let them do what they want, and watch them. This is the best policy. To ignore them is not good; that is
the worst policy. The second worst is trying to control them. The best one is to watch them, just to watch them, without
trying to control them. - Shunryu Suzuki in Zen Mind Beginner’s Mind
